It is now recognised that climate change threatens the world’s climate, economy and population; however it is also clear that, to maintain diverse and secure energy supplies, fossil fuels will remain a significant contributor to world energy demand. CCS will play a significant role in meeting future carbon emission reductions yet provide society with reliable energy supplies. Ingen have a wide range of experienced personnel who can work on each aspect of the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) processing chain. This includes engineers of various disciplines, geologists, analysts and managers who have previous experience in active CO2 projects. Combining this experience with our long-standing expertise in the supply of techno-economic evaluation tools to the oil and gas industry, allows us to present a technically strong carbon services offering, including:
• Capture and integration
• Conditioning for pipeline or shipping transportation
• Ship versus pipeline transportation analysis
• Onshore and offshore modifications (including sub-sea infrastructure)
• Sub-surface management
• Enhanced Gas and Oil Recovery (EGR/EOR) opportunities
• Techno-economic analysis of competing capture, transport, storage and EOR/EGR options
• Training
• Project review and planning
Ingen Carbon Service Drivers
It is now recognised that climate change threatens the world’s climate, economy and population; however it is also clear that, to maintain diverse and secure energy supplies, fossil fuels will remain a significant contributor to world energy demand. CCS will play a significant role in meeting future carbon emission reductions yet provide society with reliable energy supplies.
Ingen would like to play its part in the solution and have formed our Carbon Services Group. The purpose of the Group is to contribute to the development of world carbon management resources. Our company has already a significant track record in CO2 sequestration and enhanced oil recovery projects considering the infancy of the business in Europe. We are active members of the CCS Association.
Ingen CCS Contribution
Industrial scale CCS technology is still emerging. It is clear that many factors must converge to deliver an affordable and safe carbon sequestration solution: carbon markets, capture technologies, transportation infrastructure, validated geological storage sites.
Ingen have a wide range of experience personnel who can work on each aspect of CCS processing chain. This includes engineers of various disciplines, geologists, analysts and managers. Combining this experience with our long-standing expertise in the supply of techno-economic evaluation tools to the oil and gas industry, allows us to present a very strong carbon services offering:
• Capture and integration
• Conditioning for pipeline or shipping transportation
• Ship versus pipeline transportation analysis
• Onshore and offshore modifications (including sub-sea infrastructure)
• Sub-surface management
• Enhanced Gas and Oil Recovery (EGR/EOR) opportunities
• Techno-economic analysis of competing capture, transport, storage and EOR/EGR
options
• Training
• Project review and planning
Ingen CCS Resources and Resource Pool
Ingen provides expert resources to the oil and gas industry, and these professionals provide the natural solution for many of the CCS duties. However, oil and gas market pressures can restrict the availability of petroleum related resources. Through our CCS project experience, Ingen have identified that not all tasks require oil and gas experience, and we can effectively manage skilled resources from other industries. This approach will create opportunities which will contribute to the new CCS industry, building a set of experienced Carbon Services professionals.
Ingen Tools and Processes
Commercially available software tools are used every day by our technical specialists. However, Ingen have developed bespoke tools and approaches which bring additional value to our clients:
- RAVE (Risk And Value Engineering). This defines a systematic approach to system engineering encompassing life of asset, source to sink modelling, financial evaluation and translation of data uncertainties into project risks:
- In-house developed application gathering best practices from a wide range of projects
- Modularised architecture allowing new requirements to be configured
- Full integration of the value chain
- Life of field analysis
- Communication tool
- Fully auditable
- Carbon Balance. This programme integrates with RAVE and is the tool for
estimating the carbon footprint for system components from project initiation to abandonment.
- APRASE. A web based project screening system developed to allow operators and service companies the ability to capture and share ideas across the technical and commercial disciplines within the project, asset or organisation.
- CONCEPT EVALUATION. This is a process to ensure that all options are examined
and brought forward for further investigation in an organised and systematic approach. The evaluation process is designed to match and complement client decision making processes.
